A year ago I found myself 40lbs over weight and hating the shape my body was in.  I wasn't crazy about working out & I loved food to much to cut back. In November of 2011 a fitness center near my work put on a Biggest Loser challenge.  I weighed 165 & my body fat was 37.5% and boy was I out of shape!

Little did I know that in just 7 month I would be down 5 dress sizes & my body fat would be at 21.7%.  Dawson saw something in me that I didn’t, a healthy & fit woman. Who would every believe that at the age of 50 I would run my first mud run obstacle course, run a 5k in 27:29 minutes & love working out! Dawson has taught me that eating right and "bringing it" every day in the gym, is a lifestyle that I can maintain.  I can truly say that having a trainer that knows his stuff, believes in you and knows how to get the best out of someone has made all the difference in the world.

Fifty & Fit with a Body By Dawson

For 20+ years, I had been overweight.  My motivation was drained.  I had tried every fad diet out there and I came to the conclusion that I was going to be overweight for the rest of my life.  Then in January 2012, I was told about this boot camp.  I was skeptical of the boot-camp-style workout.  To be honest, it was scary and intimidating.  I am glad that I put my fears and skepticism aside because Body By Dawson has changed my life in so many ways!  He challenged me to do things that I thought I could not do.  I learned that you have to find equilibrium between cardio and training with weights.  He has given me the knowledge and tools on how to exercise and diet correctly.

When I started in January I weighed 257 lbs., wore a size 24, and had a body fat of 47%.  Yes, I was FAT.  Now, 11 months later, I weigh 177 lbs., wear a size 12/14, and my body fat is 28%.  So, if that is not results, I don’t know what is!  I would like to lose 10 more pounds, and it will be accomplished.

One thing that I thought I would never do is run, yes RUN a 5K.  I have now recently run in two; one was an obstacle course mud run, which was FUN, and the other was a timed 5K, which I ran in 32:39.  Not bad for my first race.

Now a friend just told me that, because of what I have been doing, they are going to get on the exercise bandwagon.  I love that I can inspire her to better her life.

Runner Jim Ryan said, “Motivation is what gets you started.  Habit is what keeps you going”.  I hope my story will give you that motivation to get started!

Lost 110 lbs with 80 of those within the last 6 months.  I went from a size 19 to a size 2 and competed in my first competition in 2013.

12 weeks with serious diet = total weight loss 64 pounds.

I am 27 years old mother of two. I suffer from PTSD, Depression, horrible self image and anxiety! I was on three different medicine twice a day.  I was in counseling for almost three years, when I joined my school's work out group. I never really though of myself as working out or eating healthy. I put on a fake smile and everything was okay... WRONG. What I was doing was hurting myself! I was a prisoner in my own body. I met Dawson by total fluke. Other trainers were suppose to train the school groups, but ended up quitting, and he took us on.

Over time I have learned that I need to take care of myself. Not only have I gained my life back, but I have gained an amazing support team, that has crossed the line to family.

January 7, 2013 was another attempt at trying to lose weight when I started boot camp with Body By Dawson.  Up to this point, I had tried several fad diets and tried working out on my own but I ended up starving myself into an eating binge and wasn't motivated enough to work out on my own.  Everyone kept telling me, "the weight doesn't come off overnight because it didn't come on overnight".  But in my case, it pretty much did.  I had a hysterectomy and started on hormone pills.  Within 1 1/2 months I had gained 20lbs.  Then my thyroid started acting up and I had to take meds for that.  Within 1 month, another 20lbs.  After that nothing I tried on losing weight worked.

I started boot camp and was amazed at how encouraging the others were.  Dawson started me on an eating plan and when I listed to everything he said to do and gave it all I had in my workouts, then the weight finally started coming off.  With the help of Brandi, I even ran my first 5k since high school.  People started noticing not only the weight loss but how much healthier I looked and had become.  Before the boot camp I was sick every month.  This is my 7th month of working out now and I have only been sick one time.

I have gained strength, self confidence, motivation, hope, and most of all some unexpected friendships.  Trying to lose weight was never a matter of not wanting it bad enough, it was a mental game of telling myself, "I will never lose weight, I can't do this, it is too hard."  What made the difference was being surrounded by others who were telling me the complete opposite.  People who were there for the same reason as me and who understood my previous struggles.  People who were encouraging me.

One year ago today, I decided to begin a one month challenge to lose weight by going to a boot camp five days a week.  I finished the challenge but the trainers up and left town.  Body by Dawson agreed to take anyone who wanted to continue their training.  I’m so grateful since a year later I have dropped from a size 10 to a 4-6.  I have also lost 11.2% body fat, and 10 pounds.  My cholesterol and triglycerides are in the normal range because of exercise.  Body by Dawson does a great job pushing me to a place where I feel confident and I’m encouraged to continue because I see positive results.  I can honestly say that my 5:00 AM workout is one of the best parts of my day.

When I started with Dawson last January, I had been trying to get fit for over a year. My goal was to run an 11 minute mile. However, after working at it all those months, all I had accomplished was 13 minutes, Plantar Fasciitis, and a measly loss of ten pounds. While I was making progress, I was also frustrated with the slow results and pain in my left heel.  Since I am a woman in my 40s, I knew that achieving the size I was as a teenager was unrealistic. However, Dawson has helped me to do exactly that! The combination of lifting weights and cardio has completely changed my body and the way I feel. I have more energy and absolutely no pain. I just finished running a 5K and my time was less than a 10 minute mile. I started out last January a size 16. By June, I was a size 10. I continue to improve, and have almost reached an all-time low size 6.
